Woodinville Wine Cellars: Sean Boyd Leaving

by Shona Milne on May 19, 2016

From an email received from Woodinville Wine Cellars.

We wanted to reach out to you to let you know about an exciting new development at Woodinville Wine Cellars: our Winemaker, Sean Boyd, has decided to start on his own path, with his own wine brand! We are extremely excited to see Sean and his wife Kristin realize a dream in owning their own winery! Sean says, “In 2003 I joined Woodinville Wine cellars and have enjoyed making wonderful wines from some of the great vineyards of Washington state. My experience has been fulfilling, but now, wanting to pursue a dream of owning my own winery, I say farewell to Woodinville Cellars and start my own project with my wife, Kristin Jostad.”

Throughout the years, Sean has produced many beautiful wines and created quite a following here at Woodinville Wine Cellars and we wish him all the best in his new adventure! Sadly, Sean’s last day will be June 30th and we are looking forward to celebrating with him here at the tasting room on Saturday, June 18th from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. We hope you can join us, if you are in the area. Please RSVP to Cara (cara@woodinvillewine.com) if you plan to attend the Picnic.

Although Sean and Kristin will be sorely missed, we look forward to the future and the many lovely wines we have to share with you!

Please reach out if you have any questions at all.  And, if you want to hear more about what Sean is doing, please be sure to reach out to him directly.  (sean@woodinvillewine.com)

Best regards,
The Team at Woodinville Wine Cellars [click to continue…]

Record number of attendees, wineries, restaurants and celebrity chefs  concoct recipe for success

SEATTLE – Taste Washington, Seattle’s premier wine and food event, reported its highest overall attendance in 2016; both in event participants, and also for participating restaurants and wineries. The 19th annual event took place March 31-April 3 at various venues throughout Seattle and the region and drew more than 6,400 people over the course of four days.

Taste Washington 2016 by the numbers:

·         Overall attendance: 6,439

·         Grand Tasting attendance: 5,258

·         Wineries at Grand Tasting: 237

·         Wines poured: 700

·         Number of oysters shucked: 575 dozen

The annual event’s continued growth and success can be attributed to each year’s new and exciting series of events celebrating the state’s renowned artisans and vintners, from exclusive cocktail-style parties to unique epicurean excursions and educational seminars. This year, Taste Washington introduced the first ever Best Bite award at the Grand Tasting. Participants were able to vote for their favorite culinary bite from one of the 66 Pacific Northwest restaurants, 19 of which were new this year. The inaugural winner, out of more than 2,100 votes, was Swiftwater Cellars’ duck confit on a wonton chip, topped with an Asian plum sauce. [click to continue…]
