The Auction of Washington Wines is coming up next week. It is actually a series of event that benefits Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Washington Wine Education Foundation.
The Picnic and Barrel Auction is one of may favorite events every year and I will be there this year again. It’s on Thursday, August 18th and begin at 4pm at Chateau Ste. Michelle. This is a casual event and you get to meet many of the winemakers. I think the winemakers seem to enjoy this event as much as the attendees. They will be pouring new releases, older wines, and event some barrel samples. Great news is that Tulalip Resort Casino will be providing the gourmet picnic fare again this year. They have done an amazing job each year I have attended.
There will be twenty-five wineries that will be offering barrel sample for you to taste and buy. You places bids and at the end of the auction the top five bidders will win one case of the wine.
The Winemaker Dinners take place on Friday, August 29th at 6:30pm. They are held at private homes, restaurants, and wineries with one of the winemakers. The 2011 Winemaker Dinners will be held at private estates, wineries and area restaurants. Each meal will be unique prepared by a guest chef and paired with a gourmet meal.
The 24th annual Wine Gala will be held at Chateau Ste. Michelle on Saturday, August 20th at 4:30. You will be enjoying a six course meal prepared by some of the area’s best chefs. Each table will be hosted by a Washington state winemaker, who will pair and pour wines from their collection. There will be 30 one-of-a-kind opportunities to experience Washington wines. This event was more of a formal affair in past years but this year it’s cocktail attire, with no jackets required.
The 5th Annual Covey Run is a 5K or 10K walk or run through Woodinville. There is still time to sign up. The race begins at Redhook Brewery on Saturday, August 20th at 8am.
