My mystery was solved on Saturday when arrived I at Robert Ramsay Cellars. I had not been able to find out anything about them before they opened. What I did find out is that Bob is a Syrah specialist. He is interested in quality, not quantity, and wants to stay a small boutique winery where is hands on in all aspects of the winemaking. His grapes come mainly from Boushey and McKinley Springs vineyards. He co-ferments 5% Viognier into the Syrah for a deeper extraction of color. That means it makes the red wine redder. I’m happy to say that I do like his Syrah and I’ll be back to taste again.
