EFESTE: Barrel Taste With The Winemaker

by Shona Milne on July 9, 2014

The EFESTE tasting room is now open daily from noon to 5:00 p.m. (with the exception of major holidays), and adding unique tasting options to enhance the experience of today’s wine country visitor.

One of the new events being offered is a barrel tasting with EFESTE Winemaker, Peter Devison. This rare tasting experience in EFESTE’s cellar is scheduled for Friday, July 11 from 2-3:30 p.m. Participants will live the dream for an afternoon while Peter pours samples from barrels and offers a guided tasting of components destined to become one in bottle while explaining our reductive winemaking style. Entry is available by prepaid reservation made via the EFESTE web site for $45 per person with priority seating for Club members.

Seated educational reserve tastings on Fridays are scheduled for July 18, July 25, and August 1 with prepaid advance reservations, $25 general public, $15 Club. Featured wines will include 2 library wines, 1 tasting room only wine, and side by side tastes of the ’10 and ’11 vintages of Ceidleigh Syrah.

Per winery owners, Kevin and Angela Taylor, “The continued growth of Woodinville’s wine community combined with EFESTE’s spacious facility and high standards for customer service have resulted in a rising number of visitors to the tasting room. We are pleased to offer increased hours and a variety of consumer experiences. It is the natural next step.” The winery’s e-newsletter, web site, and Facebook page are the best sources for interested wine consumers to keep informed of current events.

EFESTE, pronounced F-S-T, is an acronym for the winery’s founders: Daniel and Helen Ferrelli, Patrick Smith, and Kevin and Angela Taylor. Founded in 2005, EFESTE has amassed an impressive list of accolades, including Wine Spectator 10 Impressive Washington Reds 2012 and Wine Spectator Top 100 in 2011 and 2008. The winery and tasting room are located at 19730 144th Ave NE, Woodinville, WA.
