Kirkland, WA — When the sun comes out, Washingtonians do too, as they consider outdoor dining one of summer’s top perks.  On Thursday, June 19 through Saturday, June 21, Kirkland’s Heathman Hotel kicks-off the solstice with their award-winning Trellis Restaurant’s “Front Porch” opening – a true al fresco celebration. From 5 to 8 p.m. each evening, this extended weekend party will feature live music from guitarist/composer Angelo Pizarro, handcrafted cocktails, and Executive Chef Brian Scheehser’s contemporary farm fresh fare.

Trellis Manager Matt Davis, has had his craft-cocktail impresarios shake up seasonal libations with warm weather essence to create the perfect drink.  A Vanilla Verbena Sour with Ebb & Flow Vodka, is infused with vanilla and lemon verbena, then shaken with fresh lemon and egg whites until frothy – and served up.  For gin lovers, the Trellis Collins features Ebb & Flow Gin, Chef Scheehser’s farm honey, fresh lime, and sparkling Vivreau; served on the rocks.

Chef Brian can often be caught stashing his farming gloves before helming the kitchen, as he dashes in with the latest harvest from his 18-acre Woodinville property. Freshly picked, the produce for his up-to-the-minute menu quickly finds its way onto diners’ plates, as in the case of his “2-Hour Salad”.  From herbs to greens, veggies to fruit, and cheese to wine, Scheehser creates award-winning dishes based on his unique understanding of food’s inherent flavor and texture.

The Heathman is thrilled to have Angelo Pizarro perform at the weekend’s festivities. Coming from a family that has entertained audiences for over 50 years, he is known for his improvisational acoustic and electric guitar performances of Latin, pop and jazz music.
