Are you Interested in brushing up your sales skills and learing about working in the wine industry? Lake Washington Institute of Technology has the call for you that begins this month.

“Wine Sales” Classes @ Lake Washington Institute of Technology

What method works best in the world of wine sales?  High-pressure, one-on-one sales like a used-car salesman, or a more relaxed, nonchalant approach like Sandra Oh’s character in the movie Sideways?  Explore how there just might be room for both approaches in our Wine Sales class where, every Tuesday and Thursday night for 12 classes, we explore an in-depth look at wine sales, methodology, implementation, and the most common types of sales-based occupations found in the wine industry.  Topics discussed include the role importers, brokers, and distribution agents play in wholesale and retail wine sales as well as the myriad number sales opportunities and challenges that exist within the modern wine industry.  *This course will include periodic, guided wine tastings – participants must be 21 years of age or older.*

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

Explain the wine importing process including the roles of importers, brokers, and distribution agents and their impact upon wholesale and retail wine sales

Apply practical, direct sales methods and tools (from customer-centered selling to mass-market appeal) towards various wine sales challenges and opportunities common to the wine industry

Employ non-direct sales approaches and tools including: product placement and display, store layout, information resourcing, website presence and e-commerce, social media, etc., and evaluate their impact upon wine sales

Implement sales from winery, wholesale, retail, and internet standpoints

Ascertain how other business systems affect wine sales including, but not limited to, local, interstate, and international shipping of wine; wine buying and sourcing; accounting; inventory and warehousing; and point-of-sale systems

Utilize savvy wine sales methods and tools for use in wine-related professional and educational endeavors
