EFESTE Announces 5th Annual Rockin’ Sips Fundraiser
EFESTE is thrilled to announce the winery’s annual fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Ironically, a heartbreaking event inspired this annual celebration of wine and music. In 2006, winery owners Kevin and Angela Taylor learned that their young son Joe, grandson to ‘Big Papa’ Daniel Ferrelli and Helen Ferrelli, was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was 5 at the time. Happily, Joe completed his treatment in March of 2011.
This adverse experience resulted in the family’s desire to contribute to medical advances in the fight against cancer. Consequently, the wine Tough Guy as well as the Rockin’ Sips event hosted at the winery each year help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Angela proclaims, “We are so grateful to LLS for bringing medical advances so far along in making this blood disease and treatment a story of survivorship, not just for our family but the thousands of others.”
Last year’s Rockin’ Sips brought in over $13,500 for LLS. Thanks to the support of the community, over $57,000 has been raised for LLS to date through the winery.
Seattle cover band the Slacks are headlining this year’s event. Some of the hottest names in the Washington wine and beer industries are joining the party including Rôtie Cellars, Côte Bonneville, Sparkman Cellars, Treveri Cellars, Pike Brewing, and Black Raven Brewing Company. Additionally, ticket buyers will have a chance to win fantastic donated items from local businesses including Willows Lodge, iFly Seattle, and Bill the Butcher.
The event takes place at EFESTE on Saturday, June 8th from 4-7pm. Tickets for this sell out event are available to the public at the winery tasting room or online at www.efeste.com/events and cost $35 until May 24, then increase to $45. An optional VIP barrel room tour and tasting with winemaker Peter Devison is also available for $35. Proceeds benefit LLS.
