Glenn Coogan: Memorial Service Scheduled

by Shona Milne on September 15, 2011

A memorial service has been scheduled for Glenn Coogan at Columbia Winery. Many have been asking about how to pay their respects to someone who was my friend and my boss at Columbia Winery. He is missed. Below is from the Washington Wine Commission.

The Washington state wine industry suffered a tragic loss this week with the passing of Glenn Coogan, Vice President of Northwest Operations for Ascentia Wine Estates. Our condolences go out to Glenn’s wife Janice and their family.

Glenn served with distinction on the Washington State Wine Commission since 2004. He was a strong advocate for the interests of wineries and growers, both large and small, and across all corners of the state. He also played a key leadership role having been elected as Vice Chair of the Commission by his peers this summer. His extensive industry experience, business acumen, and dry wit and humor inspired us, and his presence will be sorely and deeply missed.

A memorial and celebration of Glenn’s life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Columbia Winery. Please RSVP to linda.conklin@ascentiawines.com if you wish to attend.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Glenn Coogan Fund for scholarships, which has been established via the Washington Wine Industry Foundation.  Donated funds will be used to establish scholarships and mentorship programs to further the wine industry in the state of Washington. You may make a donation via their website:  www.washingtonwinefoundation.org.

Condolence cards may be sent to:

As we go about the inevitable business of the season, I wish all of you and your families a very safe harvest and crush.

Sincerely,

Robin
