I rarely do wine reviews but it’s not often that I taste something that really stands out. I was lucky enough to taste Brian Carter Cellars Opulento. It’s a blend of 90% Touriga Nacional and 10% Souzao from the Yakima Valley AVA. It’s a fortified port style red wine with a rich garnet color in the glass. It has raspberry and chocolate flavors with a hint of spice that coats your tongue as you sip it. There is a sweet finish which makes it a perfect substitute for dessert. This is the first fortified wine that Brian has made and he did not make a lot of so I would hurry if you are interested. How about a bottle for a stocking stuffer?

I would love this as a stocking stuffer! I tried this a couple of weeks ago and you are right…it really is fantastic. Thanks for providing a more in-depth review of it.

We first tried this port while on our first tasting tour in Woodinville this past summer. We bought a bottle and shared it with family at Thanksgiving. It got such rave reviews, we went back to Brian Carter Cellars and bought more for Christmas. Lucky us…we also got a bottle as a gift. Sip this delicious port and nibble on a piece of quality dark chocolate. Wonderful!
