Obelisco Estate: A Private Wine Tasting

by Shona Milne on August 12, 2010

Since Obelisco Estate tasting room in Woodinville has not yet received permission from the the city to open to the public, I set up a meeting with Manny Loya who is the tasting room manager. Manny told me they were having some paperwork issues with the city about a building permit and that they were hard a work to remedy this problem. I tasted through “Tejen” Syrah, Malbec, Red Blend, Merlot, and an “Elecktrum” Cabernet Sauvignon, all 2008 vintage. I think the one word I would use to describe these wines is elegant. They had wonderful fruit flavors but none were overpowering or had overwhelming tannins. They have a nice space and there is an event space that will have a 12 person table and they will be adding a flat screen TV. They also have a wine club plan in the works with more details to come later. I’m crossing my fingers that they open soon. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Way at Obelisco Estate today. Their tasting room is not open. Loved it.
