Auction of Washington Wines: August 19th-21st

by Shona Milne on July 23, 2010

I received an email today form the Washington Wine Commission that tickets are on sale for the Auction of Washington Wines. I love going to the picnic and hope to see you there.

On the heels of two successful events in Eastern Washington, the Auction of Washington Wines, the region’s most prestigious charity wine event, reaches its climax August 19-21 in Woodinville.  Tickets for all of these upcoming events are on sale now. Special pricing packages and single event tickets are available by visiting www.auctionofwashingtonwines.org.

The Auction of Washington Wines next makes its ever-popular return to Woodinville. Thursday, August 19, brings the Barrel Auction and Picnic with the Winemakers, held at Chateau Ste. MichelleTulalip Resort Casino will provide delicious picnic fare for guests while they mingle with winemakers, bid on silent auction items and the lively barrel auction, and enjoy games and giveaways.

On Friday, August 20, intimate Winemaker Dinners will be held at private estates around the Seattle area.  Most still have seats available, although several have already sold out.  Patrons can experience a menu created by Chef Mike Davis of Purple Café and Barrio at University of Washington President Mark Emmert’s residence, featuring wines from Andrew Will and Boudreaux Cellars.  Or guests can feast with this year’s honorary chairs Dr. Wade Wolfe of Thurston Wolfe Winery and Rob Griffin of Barnard Griffin Winery at the mid-century modern home of Scott and Sandra Gjesdahl, owners of Bristol Design & Construction.  These and many other extravagant dinners remain, but tickets are going quickly.

Saturday morning the Covey Run 10k and 5k Run/Walk and Kids Dash starts at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning, August 21, at Redhook Brewery in Woodinville.  Registration is available at www.runforchildrens.org.

The elegant black-tie Gala Auction, held at Chateau Ste. Michelle on Saturday evening, caps the Auction of Washington Wines summer of events.  Guests will enjoy a six-course gourmet meal prepared by celebrity chefs and paired with leading Washington wines.  Live and silent auctions followed by live music and dancing to Brian Nova and his orchestra always make this spectacular evening one to remember.

Special pricing packages and single event tickets are available by visiting www.auctionofwashingtonwines.org.

Proceeds from the Auction of Washington Wines benefit uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital, whose core mission is to provide world-class care for every child in the region, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.  This year, the hospital expects to need more than $100 million in uncompensated care funds.  A portion of the money raised is also donated to the Washington Wine Education Foundation, funding viticultural and enological research across the state.
