I had the opportunity to attend a Walla Walla Winemakers tasting this week at Purple Cafe in Woodinville. It was a great event and quite a few wines were tasted. Amavi Cellars, Five Star Cellars, Gifford Hirlinger, and Walla Walla Vintners were the featured wineries. I had a few favorites: 2007 Amavi Cellars WW Syrah, Five Star Cellars 2007 WW Syrah, Gifford Hirlinger 2006 Estate Merlot (Yes, I love Merlot!), and Walla Walla Vintners 2007 WW Cabernet Sauvignon. The food was delicious. We were lucky to have some grilled white asparagus, along with tapenade, hummus, Caprese on a skewer, pizza, and a wonderful cheese plate to graze from.
Purple frequently has these events for about $30-40 and I think it’s THE deal! There were thirteen wines on the night of the Walla Walla Comes to Woodinville evening. There is plenty of delicious food and wine. In fact, the next event is at Purple Bellevue, on June 10th, with Dusted Valley Vintners.
