I managed to get to a few wineries for some new release tasting on Saturday. Bright sunshine and wine tasting, not a bad way to spend the first day of spring. Here are some of the spring wines that impressed me on Saturday:
Hollywood Hill Vineyard: 2009 Rattlesnake Hills Viognier – I plan to drink this all summer long. It is bright and crisp. It has a nice minerality and tropical fruit flavors. Stainless Steel Fermented
Efeste: 2009 Feral Sauvignon Blanc – Great citrusy flavors and minerality. Nice long finish.
Patterson Cellars: 2009 Patterson Cellars Rose – Light cherry color with aromas of strawberries. It’s balanced and crisp.
Sparkman Cellars: 2007 Outlaw Merlot – Black cherry and vanilla aromas. Blackberry and blackcurrant flavors with oak.
Elsom Cellars: 2007 Malbec – White pepper and earthy flavors. This was just delicious!
