Maison Bleue: Gone from Woodinville

by Shona Milne on January 18, 2010

I heard a rumor that Maison Bleue had moved out of their shared tasting room space with Isenhower Cellars. The rumor is true and Jon Martinez, owner & winemaker, told me that having a tasting room over here was spreading them a little too thin and the timing was not right for them. For now you will have to travel over to Prosser to visit their tasting room.

We have been enjoying Jon’s wines from the very beginning and are sad about his leaving the West Side but thrilled that we will be able to enjoy his presence her in Prosser for now. For those not familiar with Jon and his craft, come visit him in Prosser or at a number of excellent Seattle restaurants. Top Notch!

I’ve tried his wines in Prosser and went looking for him in Woodinville only to be told he’d headed back to Prosser. My opinion is its more his loss than woodinville. The wine is good but is it good enough to warrant me driving 3 hours to prosser to try. I think not…..

Obviously it wasnt a great success for him but the location was a little indescript and not clustered with some of the others – such as warehouse disctict or Schoolhouse corner. Perhaps he may have been more successful there.

Either way – should he make his way back to woodinville, I’m sure I’d seek him out.

They were only here in Woodinville for about 4 months or so. They opened after the summer and were gone before December. They just seemed to have too much going on to focus on Woodinville. Maybe they will come back later.

Well I’d be interested in hearing the Isenhower folks take on this, umm, partnership. Martinez is renowned at Winemakers Loft for his “my way or the highway” approach to dealing with people. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wore out his welcome there very quickly.
