I spent most of Saturday afternoon at Alexandria Nicole Cellars for a MeetUp/TweetUp with eleven other wine bloggers and wine tweeters. A special thank you to our hostess with the mostest, Margot Savell @WriteforWine, who made this possible with her wine club membership at ANC. ANC graciously hosted us and took us through a full tasting of their many wines. Also Russell’s in Bothell was there to pair their delicious foods with the wines.
Here is a list of tweeps from yesterday afternoon: @ancwine @WriteforWine @nwwineandre @DivaTink @WABrokers @SeattleWineGal @winebeerWA @YasharSeattle @beanfair @NWwines @incrediblechef and I was there also @Shona425.
We tasted the 08 Sauvignon Blanc which was one of my favorites and which won a Bronze at the 09 Seattle Wine Awards, the 08 Crawford Viognier, 08 Shepards Mark, 07 Merlot, 07 Quarry Butte, 07 Cabernet Sauvignon, and a 08 Iced Syrah. It seems that most of us loved the 2007 Quarry Butte the best of our tastings. I had never tried an Iced Syrah and thought it had a nice flavor, not too sweet. The Syrah grapes were left on the wine to hang weeks past normal harvest time and handpicked in December 2008 in the pre-dawn hours, when the temperature fell to 17 degrees. Makes me appreciate it just a bit more knowing someone was out in the pre-dawn cold picking the grapes!
