The Cabernet Classic is described as “Experience the range and diversity of Cabernet”. I think that is a perfect description when you are tasting the same varietal but each wine is completely different. The event was at Shilshole Bay Beach Club and sponsored by Seattle Uncorked. It was a fundraiser for CoCA, the Center on Contemporary Arts.
It was a chance to revisit some familiar wineries such as DiStefano, Cedergreen, and Brain Carter. I did love the Ottimo Reserve from DiStefano, Abracadabra from Brian Carter, and the 05 Cab from Cedergreen. Of those I was not as familiar; the Cab Franc from Gilbert Cellars was one of my favorites of the evening. Tasawik Vineyards 2006 Hailstorm Red was delicious, and Skylite Cellars Big Red Hiney stood out.
