I spoke with Jody Elsom on the phone a few weeks ago. I’d found out that she was planning on moving her winery from the Sodo District to Woodinville sometime this fall. She told me that she had decided that Woodinville was becoming more popular with more wineries moving into the area and that she should be over here. Elsom Cellars will be located in the building next to Silver Lake Winery.
“Good times are meant to be shared. So are good grapes and great wines. Jody’s appreciation for wine began in the Napa Valley and further explored through numerous experiences in the vineyards and wineries throughout Italy and France. Formally educated as one of the first graduates from WSU’s extension studies of Enology – Jody has a passion for developing wines that best represent the possibilities for Washington Wines. Our family has lived in Woodinville since I started grade school at Wellington Elementary; it is exciting to bring our winery home.
Our winery is currently located in the heart of Seattle’s bustling Sodo warehouse district, in the shadow of Safeco Field.
We will be moving from the grit of the city to the peace of the country. Find us nestled among the big boys in Woodinville, around the corner from St. Michelle, Columbia, and Redhook Brewery – no matter where we are located our core values remain the same.
This is no corporate enterprise. Not even close. You won’t find a mission statement on a wall, or a gift shop filled with branded merchandise – only wine, and the equipment and people dedicated to making it great – to be enjoyed at our table or yours.
It’s been said that wine reflects its environment. Elsom Cellars’ wines are filled with the clatter of artisans working hard at their winemaking craft, sharing stories, kids laughing. It’s hard to explain, but, somehow, it all ends up in the bottle. Wine gathers its taste from everything it encounters. The earth. The air. Everything leaves a mark. So do people.
We are excited to share our wines with you!
Elsom Cellars will be releasing the 2007 Selections in November in time for the holiday season. To receive notification of this invitation-only event and learn more about when we will be open for tastings at our new location in Woodinville, sign up to receive our mailing list or check back here….. We are also on facebook and twitter”
