It seems that everyone enjoyed Wednesday evening for Blogs & Dogs at Novelty Hill Januik. I had the opportunity to meet some fellow wine bloggers that I had not met before. It’s always great to talk with your peers and see what they are doing and learn a few tips.
Novelty Hill Januik put on a wonderful event for us. They brought in Uli, the German Master Butcher, of Uli’s Famous Sausage for the Dog part of the event. Nothing better than sitting outside with a taste of wine and sausages hot off the grill. I also got a tour of the vegetable garden from David Layton, Sous Chef, and ended up with tomatoes and peppers in my purse to take home.
We had the opportunity to talk with Mike Januik about his wines. He told us a story about him being called “A Master of Merlot”. I certainly liked his Januik 2006 Klipsun Merlot. The Klipsun Merlot was very smooth and fruit forward with raspberry and vanilla flavors. The other wine I really liked was the Spring Run Rose from Stillwater Creek Vineyard. The Spring Run Rose is a blend of Mouvedre, Grenache, and Syrah; it’s a beautiful salmon pink color. It’s made from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, the first Columbia Valley vineyard certified Salmon Safe.
Look for Wine’d Down Wednesdays from 5-7pm at Novelty Hill Januik. They offer wine by the glass and 10% off all bottle purchases. They will fire up the brick oven pizza ($12/pie) and have the bocce ball court raked and ready to go. Outdoor living at its finest!
