Greg Lill certainly picked a good day for his big birthday. What a party! The sun was out when I arrived at Chateau Ste. Michelle for the Auction of Washington Wines Picnic to benefit Children’s Hospital and then the weather changed. The dark clouds rolled in and it started to sprinkle and people mostly seemed undisturbed. It is Seattle after all. When it really started to rain enough to dilute the wine they started to move under the unbrellas and the staff started moving things into the tent that had been set up for the big auction on Saturday night.
I got to taste so many great wines on Thursday and it was the who’s who of winemakers. I had some great wines and some that are going to be great from the barrel samples I had. There did seem to be an abundance of Syrah being poured on Thursday, no that I’m complaining.
