Outrageous! Burgerville in Vancouver, Washington has a pilot program in its Salmon Creek location to serve wine and beer with your burger. I spent my high school years eating Burgerville as Vancouver did not offer up much in culinary delights at the time. They always served up a great burger and fries, and it’s secret sauce. It sounds as if things have changed quite a lot including the menu and now the addition of wine and beer. I will have to stop by the next time I am in town for a burger with a glass of wine. Not only are they serving wine, they are serving very good wine from something I heard recently. I can’t recall specific wineries but I was stunned. And, if you haven’t been there in awhile, a lot of the food is local, fresh, sustainable and even beyond burgers. I think one special earlier in the summer was fresh asparagus, tomato, and mozzarella on ciabatta and, if you wanted, some delicately coated fried asparagus (think light tempura), all worthy of a good wine.

I could hardly believe what was mentioned on the menu. On the Burgerville site mentions a July Walla Walla onion burger. Almost want to jump in the car and go for a drive to Vancouver right now. I was also surprised by the wines mentioned. Better than could be imagined. I hope they focus on Washington and Oregon wines.
