I attended the Seattle Wine Awards on Sunday at the Rainier Club. It was quite a nice spot to honor all of our fabulous Washington wines. I was invited as press to blog and Twitter live during the event. It was the first time that this was set up for the Seattle Wine Awards. My fellow bloggers/tweeters headed out to taste wines and chat with everyone there and we did our Twitter postings as the day went along. Wineries were encouraged to sign up for Twitter accounts. I hope that we are invited back next year. It was interesting how wine and technology blended so well. You can follow me on Twitter @Shona425
My very first stop was at Northwest Totem Cellars and I was the first public tasting of a personal favorite of mine, Late Harvest Viognier. It’s the new release and it has a light honey flavor versus the previous release which leans more toward tropical fruits. I think I need to do a side by side tasting to compare them.
I enjoyed so many wines that it’s hard to name them all. I can honestly say that I did not taste a bad wine all afternoon. Some of my favorites were: Alexandria Nicole Cabernet Sauvignon-Double Gold, Basel Cellars Merriment-Bronze, Cote Bonneville Carriage House-Gold, Covington Cellars Rough House Red-Outstanding, Obelisco Estate Cabernet Sauvignon-Double Gold, Pondera Consensio-Bronze, San Juan Vineyard Afterglow Rose-Silver, William Church Malbec-Double Gold, and William Church 2 Spires-Silver.
