Report of Valentine’s Day Wine Tasting

by Shona Milne on February 19, 2009

What a beautiful day it was for wine tasting this past Saturday on Valentine’s Day. I stopped off at quite a few wineries and thankfully I had enough sense to make a list of where I had been. My first stop was Northwest Totem Cellars for a variety of reasons. The first is that I love their wines. Also Kate was cooking up some of her vegan specialties to pair with the wines. I must say that Kate’s pear tart was perfect with the Last Harvest Viognier. The other reason was that this was a fundraiser for Homeward Pet, a no-kill animal shelter located here in Woodinville which is where I adopted my cat about ten years ago. I heard that almost $1000.00 was raised for Homeward Pet.

I headed out to the warehouse district and stopped at William Church Winery where they had a chocolatier on site. I couldn’t hurt the woman’s feeling so I had a fabulous chocolate with each taste. The best one was dark chocolate with salt on top.

I also stopped in at Senoj Estates, Washington Wine Company/Patterson Cellars, Edmonds Winery, Anton Ville and Gordon Brother Tasting Room. My last stop was at XS Vintners to throw the ball for Otis.

I don’t know if Otis is in any of the wine dog books. He should be. I love to stop in at XS Vintners to throw the ball. Enjoy your tastings.
