Arlington Road Cellars: Soon to be Evening Airs with Dancing Alder & Stone Arbor Labels

by Shona Milne on January 31, 2009

I spoke with Dale Fonk on Friday afternoon. Dale and his partner Steve Stuart purchased Arlington Road Cellars assets late last year. The new name might be Evening Airs with Dancing Alder & Stone Arbor labels. They will be opening up their winery in May of this year. It will be next to Silver Lake Winery. Dale also told me that Matt Loso, formerly of Matthew Cellars, will be consulting with them. The Monolith label will continue under Stone Arbor.

To clarify, Dale and Steve purchased the assets of the company, not the name “Arlington Road Cellars”.

Thank you for the clarification.

The owners of Arlington Road won’t be opening a new winery.

I am happy to announce our new name, Elevation Cellars Northwest.
We will continue to produce Monolith, a Bordeaux style wine and the Alsatian style Riesling, Imperium, along with some other blends and varietals in a collaborative effort between Matt and myself. We are producing our wines on site at 19495 144th Ave. NE, Suite A-115, Woodinville WA.

I want to thank all the great supporters who have made this transition a great experience. We plan to continue to make some of the best wines in Woodinville. If you haven’t stopped by yet, please come in and taste how great Monolith has developed over the last year and let us elevate your spirits. We are opened every Saturday from Noon until 5:00 PM.

I hope to announce our new website very soon. Stay tuned.

Hi~~is this the new winery with Pat Atkinson and Fazendin? I heard that rumor.

Shona Milne 01.15.10 at 10:26 am

Not that I know of. It’s now known as Elevation Cellars NW. Steve Stuart is the owner. He just went through a few name changes.

Shona Milne 01.15.10 at 12:01 pm

Jackie: Just found out that Pat Atkinson is part owner and Mary Fazendin is Steve’s wife. So you are correct.

I am very interested in how Arlington Road Cellars got its name. There is a story that it was named after Arlington Road on Cape Charles Virginia. Here T. Custis (grandfather to the Custis-Lee who built the mansion and estate that became Arlington National Cemetery)first planted a vineyard to Bordeaux varieties and made N. America’s first Bordeaux Blend wine (circa 1785 and 1790). If anyone can confirm this and explain the connection with the late Washington State winery, please let me know.
