Columbia Winery Signs Long-Term Lease

by Shona Milne on November 21, 2008

I just received this email regarding Columbia Winery staying in Woodinville.

After a period of uncertainty as to the future of Columbia Winery’s tasting room, we are pleased to announce that our new owners, Ascentia Wine Estates, have signed a long-term lease that will keep us in our current location.

This development secures Columbia Winery’s pioneering spirit and preserves our foothold in the heart of the Washington State’s wine industry.

This was an important decision for all of us here at the winery, as Woodinville has been our home for the past twenty years. We also recognized that this iconic building, proudly displayed on the label of every bottle of wine we produce, was paramount in maintaining our brand positioning with consumers, tourists and distributors.

Now that we are staying, we can continue with our plans to enhance the winery experience for both our visitors and club members. These plans also include reinstating Columbia Winery as the premier event, meeting and wedding venue.

In addition, we will continue working with our business neighbors to create awareness for the Washington wine industry and to add our efforts in driving tourism for the City of Woodinville and Woodinville Wine Country.

With its reputation for innovation, Columbia Winery is a leader in the Washington wine industry, having pioneered many firsts including the state’s first Syrah. Winemaker Kerry Norton continues that tradition in crafting highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah as well as new-to-Washington varietals such as Malbec and Barbera. Many of the winery’s small lot wines are only available through the wine club and tasting room.

Nationally, Columbia Winery sells and distributes an array of award winning wines including their flagship varietal, Riesling, the white wine of choice for the consumers all over America.
