I consider Trouvaille Winery a lucky find. They are located up on Hollywood Hill and are only open one weekend a year for their new releases. Luckily, I was on the email list and marked it on my calendar so I went out to Trouvaille Winery last Saturday with fellow blogger Alex Eagleton of Stems and Legs.

I talked with Attila, winemaker and owner, as I sipped through his new releases and some past vintages. He told me that he was born and raised in Holland and that there was always wine and beer on the dinner table. He grew up tasting wine and developed his palate and had his parents buy the wine that he liked. In his real life he is a paralegal with a passion for making wine. He has volunteered at local wineries to learn the business of making wine and has been involved in food and wine pairing events. Right now he is content with making 150 cases of wine every year but may slowly increase production in the future.

Since you missed the release weekend you can find Attila’s wines at Wicked Cellars in Everett, Grape Choice in Kirkland, and Wine World in Seattle. I came home with a bottle of the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Walla Walla Valley. The new releases of the 2008 vintage, includes two new wines. A Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with grapes from the Klipsun Vineyard, and a blend called The Hun, which is Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley and from Red Mountain, and Malbec from the Wahluke Slope.

The Grape Choice was packed on Wednesday evening for the DeLille Cellars tasting. Winemaker Chris Upchurch was pouring his wines and talking about DeLille Cellars, its wines, and that they have been in business 17 years. I really can’t decide if I like the D2 or Harrison Hills the best. Such a problem, I will just have to keep tasting. I was disappointed to hear that their Rose’ is sold out. I didn’t get a chance to taste it.

It was a perfect afternoon to sit outside on the Grape Choice patio and drink some wine and chat with some friends. I love sitting outside close to Lake Washington. Many of the patrons bring their dogs with them as the patio is dog friendly. You get to watch the world go past if you sit there long enough. I also had the pleasure of meeting Alex Corcoran, Publisher of Edible Seattle magazine. There is an interesting article “Riveting Rose’” which mentions Five under $20 Washington Rose’s. I’m finding quite a few local rose’s to drink right now.

Some of us moved on to Trellis Restaurant at the Heathman Hotel. Yes, again to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the fresh air. We ordered a bottle of Cedergreen Cellars Chenin Blanc which paired with all of our food.
